A seven member Board of Health oversees the operations and sets the policies of the Health Department.
It is the responsibility of the Henry County District Advisory Council, which is made up of the chairman of each township, mayors of each village, and a county commissioner, to appoint the board of health members during the annual meeting, held at the end of each March.
Each board member is appointed to a five year term and represent different areas within the health district (Henry County General Health District).
The
Board of Health must have the following represented:
• One physician
• Three at-large members
The Board of Health then appoints a Health Commissioner as its executive officer to direct the daily operations of the department and to carry out all orders of the Board and the Ohio Department of Health.
Henry County Board of Health meetings are held once a month on Tuesdays at 1:00 p.m. in the conference room at the Henry County Health Department. These meetings are open to the public. A listing of meeting dates can be found here.
