Utilizing the evidence based work of prominent psychologists, we offer Building Resilience With Youth: A How-To Guide for safe adults. This training can be completed in 2 to 4 hours and adapted for the needs and availability of the attendees.
The training aims to equip adults who work with adolescents to be trauma-informed and to provide opportunities for safe and supportive connection to the community. Research has shown having a caring and stable relationship with a trusted adult can prevent childhood adversity, buffer against the harmful effects of trauma, and promote healing.
Topics covered include:
- Understanding how Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) impact brain development
- Learning Top-5 resiliency factors in healthy development for young people who have experienced trauma
- Several practical tools to utilize with youth to build resiliency
- Resources for further learning
We follow a “train-the- trainer” format developed by the Center for Family Safety & Healing based in Columbus, OH. Our training can be altered to better fit the needs of the audience with setting-specific examples and a flexible time frame.
