COVID-19 Positive?

Henry County Health Department, following the direction of the Ohio Department of Health and several national organizations, will now be focusing COVID-19 contact tracing and case investigation efforts on outbreaks and clusters in specific settings associated with those at high-risk. This means that individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will no longer receive a phone call from the health department.

If you have tested positive, it is extremely important that you follow this guidance.

Stay home and isolate yourself from other people in your home for at least 5 days and until you meet ALL 3 of these requirements:

  1. At least 5 days since symptoms first appeared AND
  2. At least 24 hours since last fever without the use of fever-reducing medicines AND
  3. Symptoms of COVID are improving (Loss of taste and smell may persist for weeks or months after recovery and need not delay the end of isolation.

If you have no symptoms or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house but should continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.

  • If you tested positive for COVID-19 but show no symptoms, still isolate from others in your home.
  • Monitor your symptoms. If you have an emergency warning sign (including trouble breathing), seek emergency medical care immediately.
  • Write a list of people you had been in contact with from 2 days prior to having symptoms to now. If no symptoms, your list should include those you had been in contact with from 2 days prior to when your COVID-19 test was taken.
  • Tell those on your list that you have tested positive for COVID-19 and they should quarantine and monitor for symptoms.
