School Nursing in the Community

HCHD is currently contracted to provide school nursing services to St. Augustine Catholic School, St. John Lutheran School, and St. Paul Lutheran School. Services provided to the schools include

• ‣ Screenings for vision, hearing, and scoliosis

• ‣ Immunization Records Review and State Mandated Reporting

• ‣ Communicable Disease Management

• ‣ Medication Administration Training for School Staff

I received a referral letter from my child’s screening test. What do I do?

If your child did not pass the initial screening test and the second screening test that was conducted at least one month after the initial test, a referral letter will be mailed to your home address. It is important to your child’s school success to have a professional evaluation as soon as possible. If a problem is found and corrected, it may help your child do better in his or her school work.
